Question Discussion & Solution

Number of persons between two different persons = Total number of persons – (position of person from left + position of persons from right)

Sum of positions of K & T from opposite ends = 23 + 28 = 51, i.e. less than the total number of students (<60)

Therefore, number of students between K & T = Total number of students - (position of K from left + position of T from right)

60 – (23 + 28) = 60 – 51 = 9

The correct answer is Wheat.

Key Points

Concept-

• A wide range of fungal, bacterial, and viral pathogens, affect the yield of cultivated crop species, especially in tropical climates.
• Crop losses can often be significant, up to 20-30 per cent, or sometimes even total.
• In this situation, the breeding and development of cultivars resistant to disease enhance food production.
• This also helps reduce the dependence on the use of fungicides and bacteriocides.

Explanation-

• Resistance of the host plant is the ability to prevent the pathogen from causing disease and is determined by the genetic constitution of the host plant.
• Before breeding is undertaken, it is important to know about the causative organism and the mode of transmission.
• Some of the diseases caused by-
  • Fungi are rusts, e.g., brown rust of wheat, red rot of sugarcane, and late blight of potato.
  • Bacteria – black rot of crucifers.
  • Viruses – tobacco mosaic, turnip mosaic, etc.
• Brown rust of wheat is caused by the fungus Puccinia triticina.

Therefore the brown rust is the disease of wheat.

Additional Information

• Red rot is the disease of sugarcane.
• Late blight is the disease of potatoes.
• Mosaic virus is the disease of turnip.

An electrician wears rubber gloves to avoid electric shock while repairing an electrical switch.

• As the human body is a good conductor of electricity.
• So it can pass through electricity from itself when it comes in contact with electricity and may get shocked or even fatality.
• As rubber is an insulator i.e. it is a non-conductor of electricity.
• So it protects the body of electricians from direct contact with electricity.

Concept:

An array is a data structure that contains a group of elements. These elements are all of the same data type, such as an integer.

To access element from an array subscript(index) and array name is required

Explanation:

Array name: A

To access 3^rd element in an array A[2] or 2[A] is used.  Therefore Both A[2] and 2[A] represent the value 3

Important point:

A[0] represent the value 1^st element
