Question Discussion & Solution

The correct answer is On 6th April 1919.

• The non-violent protest day of Rowlatt Act was celebrated on 6th April 1919.

Key Points

• Rowlatt Act (1919):
  • In 1919 a Sedition Committee headed by justice Rowlatt led to the Rowlatt Act. This act authorised the government to imprison any person without trial and conviction by the Court of Law for 2 years. The law also enabled the government to suspend the right of Habeas Corpus which had been the foundation of civil liberties in Britain.
• Jallianwala Bagh Massacre (13th April 1919 AD):
  • The arrest of Dr Saifuddin Kitchlu and Dr Satyapal on 10th April 1919 AD, under the Rowlatt Act in connection with Satyagraha caused serious unrest in Punjab.
  • A public meeting was held on 13th April 1919 AD in a park called Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar. As soon as the meeting started, General Reginald Dyer ordered the indiscriminate heavy firing. The crowd of people had no way out to escape. As a result, hundreds of men, women and children were killed and more than 1,200 people wounded.
  • Due to this massacre, R.N. Tagore returned ‘Knighthood’ and Shankaran Nair resigned from the Executive Council of Viceroy.

1^st letter: Decrease by - 1

O - 1→ N – 1 → M - 1 → L – 1 → K

2^nd letter: increase by + 2

L + 2 → N + 2→ P + 2 → R + 2 → T

3^rd letter: Decrease by - 1

T - 1→ S – 1 → R - 1 → Q – 1 → P

The correct answer is Fossil fuels.

Key Points

Non-Renewable Resources Examples

• Fossil Fuel
• Coal
• Rare earth elements
• Petroleum products
• Uranium

Thus, Fossil fuels are a non-renewable source of energy.

Additional Information

Types of Renewable Energy

Solar Energy:

• The radiant light and heat energy from the sun is harnessed with the use of solar collectors.
• These solar collectors are of various types such as photovoltaics, concentrator photovoltaics, solar heating, (CSP) concentrated solar power, artificial photosynthesis, and solar architecture.
• This collected solar energy is then used to provide light, heat, and different other forms of electricity.

Wind Energy:

• The energy we get from winds is known as wind energy.
• For this, windmills have been used for hundreds of years to pump out water from the ground. We use large tall wind turbines that allow winds to generate electricity.
• The natural airflow on the surface of the earth is used to run the wind turbines.
• The most preferred locations for these wind turbines to be installed are the areas which and strong and have constant airflows on offshore and sites that are at high altitudes.

Hydroelectricity:

• According to statistics, hydroelectricity generated around 16.6% of the global energy resources and constituted about 70% of all the renewable electricity.
• This energy is another alternative source of energy that is generated by the construction of dams and reservoirs on the flowing water, the kinetic energy from the flowing water is used to run the turbines which generate electricity.
• Tidal power converts the energy of tides and Wave power which captures the energy from the surface of the ocean waves for power generation.
• These two forms of hydropower also have huge potential in electric power generation

Geothermal Energy:

• It is the energy that is generated from the thermal energy which is stored in the earth.
• The heat energy is captured on sources such as hot springs and volcanoes and this heat is directly used by industries for heating the water and other purposes.

Bio-Energy:

• This type of energy is derived from biomass which is a type of biological material derived from living organisms and plant-derived materials which are called lignocellulosic biomass.
• Biomass can be directly used via combustion to produce heat and indirectly it can be used to convert to biofuels.
• Biomass can be converted to other usable forms of energy such as transportation fuels like ethanol, biodiesel, and methane gas.

The correct answer is 1526.

• The first battle of Panipat was fought in 1526.

Key Points

• The First Battle of Panipat (21 April 1526) fought near a small village of Panipat Haryana.
• The battle was fought between the invading forces of Zahir-ud-din Babur and Lodi Empire during the rule of Ibrahim Lodi.
• The Mughal forces of Babur, the ruler of Kabulistan, defeated the ruling army of Ibrahim Lodi, Sultan of Delhi.
• Babur’s tactics of Tulughma and Araba led him to victory.

Additional Information

• Tulughma: it means dividing the whole army into various units, viz. the Left, the Right and the Centre.
• Araba: The centre forward division was then provided with carts which were placed in rows facing the enemy and tied to each other with animal.
• The Second Battle of Panipat was fought between the forces of Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya and  the army of Akbar, on November 5, 1556
• The Third Battle of Panipat took place on 14 January 1761, at Panipat between the Maratha Empire and the King of Afghanistan, Ahmad Shah Durrani.

Given ten digit number is 6438123953

First half of the digits are : 64381

These are rearranged in descending order, so it becomes, 86431

Second half of the digits are : 23953

These are rearranged in ascending order, so it becomes, 23359

The new number is 8643123359

Comparing the new number with the given number

We see that, 4 digits position (highlighted) remains unchanged

Hence ‘4’ is the correct answer.
