Question Discussion & Solution

Option 3 is correct, i.e. p-block.

• Modern Periodic Table:
  • The Modern Periodic Table is classified into the following elements - p-block, s-block, d-block, and f-block.
  • The p-block elements include chalcogens, pnictogens, halogens, inert gases.
    • The 18^th group is known as Inert gas, zero groups, Nonreactive gases.
    • The 17^th group is known as Halogen.
    • The 16^th group is known as Chalcogen.
    • The 15^th group known as Pnictogen.
    • Pnictogen group refers to the choking property of nitrogen gas (as opposed to air, which contains oxygen as well as nitrogen).
    • Nitrogen family elements consist of atoms having 5 electrons in their outer energy level. Two of the electrons are in the s subshell, with 3 unpaired electrons in the p subshell.
  • The s-block elements include alkali metals and alkaline earth metals.
  • The d-block elements include Transition elements.
  • The f-block elements include Inner Transition Elements.

The correct answer is Scanner.

Key Points

• Scanner:
  • Scanner is an input device and can be used to scan images as well as text documents.
  • Scanner is not a pointing input device.
• Pointing device
  • A pointing device is an input interface that allows a user to input spatial data to a computer.
  • Common pointing devices
    • Mouse
    • Trackball
    • Joystick
    • Pointing stick
    • Wii Remote
    • Finger tracking
    • Graphics tablet
    • Stylus
    • Finger tracking

Additional Information

• Track Ball:
  • The trackball is a pointing device consisting of a ball housed in a socket containing sensors to detect rotation of the ball about two axes, similar to an upside-down mouse..
  • Tracker balls are commonly used on CAD workstations
• Digitizing Tablet:
  • A digitizer tablet is a peripheral device that allows users to draw on a computer screen.
• Joystick:
  • A joystick is a lever-type device that can be moved in several directions.
  • Used to control the movement of an image on a computer or similar display screen.

An electrician wears rubber gloves to avoid electric shock while repairing an electrical switch.

• As the human body is a good conductor of electricity.
• So it can pass through electricity from itself when it comes in contact with electricity and may get shocked or even fatality.
• As rubber is an insulator i.e. it is a non-conductor of electricity.
• So it protects the body of electricians from direct contact with electricity.

The correct answer is 2 ms^-2

• We know that according to Newton's 2^nd law,
  • Force = Mass × Acceleration
  • or \((\vec F = m \times \vec a)\)
• Here, F = 100 N and Mass = 50 Kg
• So, 100 = 50x a ⇒ a = 100/50 = 2.
• Hence, the acceleration will be 2 ms^-2.

• Force: A force is something that changes the state of rest or motion of a body.
  • It causes the body to start moving if it is at rest or stops if it is in motion or deflects from the initial path.
  • Force is a vector quantity having SI unit Newton (N) and dimension (MLT^-2).
• According to Newton’s Second law of motion
  • The rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the resulting force acting on a body
  • Mathematically it can be expressed as
• \(\vec F \propto \frac{{d\vec p}}{{dt}}\;or\;\vec F = m \times a\)
