Question Discussion & Solution

The correct answer is Mercury.

Key Points

• Mercury is used in thermometers because it remains in liquid form throughout a wide range of temperatures i.e -37.89 degrees Fahrenheit to 674.06 degrees Fahrenheit.
• The mercury thermometer was invented by physicist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit in Amsterdam.
• Mercury has a greater coefficient of thermal expansion than alcohol.
• A thermometer with alcohol is used to measure low temperature because its freezing point is low i.e -1170C.
• It is Impossible to measure high temperatures because it’s a low boiling point.
• The thermometer with mercury cannot be used to measure the very low temperature because its freezing point is high i.e -400C.
• Mercury is the only one in liquid state at room temperature.
• It's used in thermometers because it has a high coefficient of expansion.
• It also has a high boiling point which makes it very suitable to measure higher temperatures.
• It has a shiny appearance and doesn't stick to the glass surface of the glass.

The correct answer is option 1.

Concept:

The auto storage class is the default storage class for all local variables. The variables defined using the auto storage class are called local variables. Auto stands for automatic storage class. A variable is in the auto storage class by default if it is not explicitly specified. The scope of an auto variable is limited to the particular block only.

Storage Classes:

Storage Classes are used to describe the features of a variable/function. These features basically include the scope, visibility, and lifetime which help us to trace the existence of a particular variable during the runtime of a program. C language uses 4 storage classes.

Hence the correct answer is auto.

The correct answer is Bhup Singh.

• Bhup Singh was the real name of freedom fighter Vijay Singh Pathik.

Key Points

• Vijay Singh Pathik
  • Vijay Singh Pathik, popularly known as Rashtriya Pathik, was an Indian revolutionary.

The correct answer is Afforestation.

• Afforestation is not a cause of soil erosion.

Key Points

• Afforestation is planting trees on an area of land in order to form a forest.
• Removal of the top layer of soil when it is exposed to wind and rain is easily blown or washed away. This condition is known as soil erosion.
  • Basically, the soil cover is removed by two powerful agents– (i) Running water, (ii) Wind.
• Deforestation, overgrazing, floods, Landslides and heavy rainfall have led to soil erosion.

The correct answer is Flash memory.

Key Points

• Flash memory is a type of memory that functions similarly to RAM and ROM.
• You can write data to flash memory just like you can to RAM, however, unlike ROM, the data isn't lost when the power is turned off. Read-only memory is referred to as ROM.
• Although the CPU can read from ROM, it cannot write to or modify it. ROM is a long-term storage medium.
• Random-access memory (RAM) refers to memory that the microprocessor can read from and write to. It's done in RAM when you construct something in memory.

Important Points

• The smallest and fastest memory in a computer is register memory.
• External memory, often known as secondary memory, refers to the numerous storage media that a computer might use to store data and applications.
• Cache memory, often known as cache, is a supplementary memory system that saves frequently used instructions and data in order for the central processing unit (CPU) of a computer to perform them more quickly.
