Question Discussion & Solution

The correct answer is carbon.

Key Points

• A fullerene is an allotrope of carbon whose molecule consists of carbon atoms connected by single and double bonds so as to form a closed or partially closed mesh, with fused rings of five to seven atoms.
  • The molecule may be a hollow sphere, ellipsoid, tube, or many other shapes and sizes.
• Various allotropes of carbon are diamond, graphite, lonsdaleite, fullerene, C-540, C-70, amorphous carbon, carbon nanotube.
• Diamond and crystalline silicon are isomorphous because they both have a three-dimensional tetrahedral structure.
• Allotropy, the existence of a chemical element in two or more forms, which may differ in the arrangement of atoms in crystalline solids or in the occurrence of molecules that contain different numbers of atoms.

Additional Information

• When an element exists in more than one crystalline form, those forms are called allotropes; the two most common allotropes of carbon are diamond and graphite.
  • One of the allotropic form of a carbon is a fullerene in which “carbon atoms” are “arranged in a sphere”.
  • Each sphere has 60 carbon atoms and each carbon atom is linked by a single covalent.
  • The fullerene is considered as purest allotrope of “carbon” because they have “smooth structure” without having dangling bonds.

The correct answer is Rajasthan.

Key Points

• Sati (Prevention) Act, 1987 is a law enacted by the Government of Rajasthan in 1987.
• It became an Act of the Parliament of India with the enactment of The Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act, 1987 in 1988.
• The Act seeks to prevent Sati, the voluntary or forced burning or burying alive of a widow, and to prohibit glorification of this action through the observance of any ceremony, participation in any procession, creation of financial trust, construction of a temple, or any actions to commemorate or honor the memory of a widow who committed Sati.

Additional Information

• Sati was first banned under Bengal Sati Regulation, 1829.
• Bengal Sati Regulation, 1829 is also known as Regulation XVII.
• This Regulation XVII or Prohibition of Sati was passed by Lord William Bentinck.

Concept:

• Heat Transfer: Heat is transferred from one place to another in substance due to temperature difference.

• Evaporation: In this process, the liquid form a substance tends to convert in the gaseous phase on the uppermost surface due to heat and pressure.
• Condensation: In this process, the gaseous phase of an object tends to convert into liquid form due to pressure and temperature.

Explanation:

The other end of a wooden spoon will not become cold when it is dipped in a cup of ice cream because wood is a bad conductor, not a good conductor.

• She is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Additional Information

• Kamala Beniwal served as the Governor of Mizoram, Gujarat, and Tripura.
  • She is the first woman Governor of any northeastern state.
• Tara Bhandari was the deputy speaker of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1998.
  • Her constituency is Sirohi.

A 2007 survey by the Ministry of Women and Child Development showed that 53% of children in India had been sexually abused.

Important Points The Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) was passed by both houses of Parliament on May 22, 2012.

• It came into effect on Children’s Day, November 14, 2012.
• Salient Feature of POCSO-
  • It is gender-neutral.
  • It makes the reporting of abuse mandatory.
  • It makes the recording of sexual abuse mandatory.
  • It lists all known types of sexual offences towards minors.
  • It provides for the protection of minors during the judicial process.

From the above, it is clear that the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) came into effect on Children’s Day, November 14, 2012.
