Question Discussion & Solution

A storage unit is used to store information and instructions when they are not being used in memory.

Three kinds of storage devices are a flash drive, hard disks, and CD - ROM drives.

Data access time is the time taken by a computer, or a data storage device or medium, to respond to a user's request for data.

Typical access times for a CD-ROM drive, 200 milliseconds; hard drive, 15 milliseconds; Random Access Memory (RAM), 70 nanoseconds.

There is a trade-off among the three key characteristics of memory: namely, capacity, access time, and cost. A variety of technologies are used to implement memory systems, and across this spectrum of technologies, the following relationships hold:

• Faster access time, greater cost per bit
• Greater capacity, smaller cost per bit
• Greater capacity, slower access time

The correct answer is In 1956.

• In 1956 the "Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act" was enacted.

Key Points

• Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act
  • This Act may be called the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
  • It extends to the whole of India.

Additional Information

• Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act
  • In pursuance of the International Convention signed by India in 1950 pertaining to the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking, a comprehensive Act called Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act was enacted in 1956.
  • It makes the sexual exploitation of male and female a cognizable offence.

There are three basic units of a computer system:

1. Input Unit: Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner, Light pen, Trackball etc.
2. Central Processing Unit
3. Output Unit: Monitor and Printer

Central Processing Unit (CPU): It is the most important unit, where all the processing jobs take place. CPU is the control centre of the computer and hence it is said to be the brain of the computer. CPU has three main components:

1. Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU): It performs all the arithmetic operations like addition (+), multiplication (*), subtraction (-), division (/) on the numerical data directed by the control unit. All the logical operations, like less than (<), greater than (>), equal to (=), not equal to (≠) etc. are also carried out by ALU.
2. Control Unit (CU): It controls and coordinates all the operations taking place in the system. It controls the flow of data and information from one unit to the other.
3. Registers/Memory Unit (MU): To execute a program, data and instructions need to be stored temporarily. This storage is done in the MU. The data and instructions are retrieved from MU by Control Unit for supplying to ALU as when required by the program.
4. Internal bus: To transfer the data

The correct answer is in 1957.

• Rajasthan State Sports Council was established in 1957.

Key Points

• Rajasthan State Sports Council is the premier body in Rajasthan at the State level which looks after the development of sports activities and providing coaching to the state players.
• It was set up in the year 1957.
• Its headquarters is in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
• Ashok Chandna is the current sports minister of Rajasthan.

The pattern repeat alternatively.
