Question Discussion & Solution

the correct answer is MS-DOS.

MS-DOS is not a GUI-based operating system

Key Points

• MS-DOS is a text-based operating system, meaning that a user works with a keyboard to input data and receives output in plain text. Later, MS-DOS often had programs using a mouse and graphics to make work more simple and quick.
• MS-DOS is a non-graphical command line operating system derived from 86-DOS that was created for IBM-compatible computers.
• MS-DOS allows the user to navigate, open, and otherwise manipulate files on their computer from a command line instead of a GUI like Windows.

Important Points

• Some popular, modern graphical user interface examples include:
  • Microsoft Windows,
  • macOS, Ubuntu Unity,
  • GNOME Shell for desktop environments, and
  • Android,
  • Apple's iOS,
  • BlackBerry OS,
  • Windows 10 Mobile,
  • Palm OS-WebOS, and
  • Firefox OS for smartphones.

Additional Information

• Graphical User Interface (GUI)
  • The graphical user interface is used by the most commercially popular computer operating systems
  • A Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows you to enter commands by pointing and clicking at objects that appear on the screen.
  • It consists of picture-like items (icons and arrows for example).
  • In most operating systems, the primary user interface is graphical.

The correct answer is Concave.

Key Points

• Concave Mirror:-
  • If a hollow sphere is cut into parts and the outer surface of the cut part is painted, then it becomes a mirror with its inner surface as the reflecting surface.
  • This type of mirror is known as a concave mirror.
  • A concave mirror has a reflective surface that is curved inward and away from the light source.
  • Concave mirrors reflect light inward to one focal point.
  • Unlike convex mirrors, the image formed by a concave mirror shows different image types depending on the distance between the object and the mirror.
  • Torch lights, automobile headlights are examples of concave mirrors.
  • The mirror used by the dentists to see the teeth of the patients is also a Concave Mirror.
  • Uses of Concave Mirror:
  • Used in shaving mirrors, ophthalmoscope, astronomical telescopes, headlights, solar furnaces.

Additional Information

• Convex Mirror:-
  • If the cut part of the hollow sphere is painted from inside, then its outer surface becomes the reflecting surface.
  • This kind of mirror is known as a convex mirror.
  • A convex mirror is also known as a diverging mirror as this mirror diverges light when they strike its reflecting surface.
  • Virtual, erect, and diminished images are always formed with convex mirrors, irrespective of the distance between the object and the mirror.
  • A convex mirror is a diverging mirror in which the reflective surface bulges towards the light source.
  • They are not used to focus light as they reflect light outwards.
  • The image formed by convex mirrors is smaller than the object but gets larger as they approach the mirror.
  • Magnifying glasses, telescopes are examples of convex mirrors.
  • Uses of Convex Mirror: Inside buildings, Vehicle mirrors, Magnifying glass, Security purposes.
• Plane Mirror:-
  • A plane mirror is a flat, smooth reflective surface.
  • A plane mirror always forms a virtual image that is upright, and of the same shape and size as the object, it is reflecting.
  • A spherical mirror is a mirror that has a consistent curve and a constant radius of curvature.
  • The images formed by a spherical mirror can either be real or virtual.
  • Spherical mirrors are of two types:
    • Concave Mirror
    • Convex Mirror
  • Uses of Plane Mirror: Solar cookers, looking glass, scientific instruments, constructing periscope which is used in submarines, kaleidoscope, a toy which produces beautiful patterns, SLR camera to click photos.

Key Points

• Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005:
  • Domestic Violence means:
    • “Physical abuse" includes hurt of any kind. Assault, criminal intimidation and criminal force. Hence statement 1 is correct.
    • “Sexual abuse" such as the conduct of a sexual nature such as forced sexual intercourse, forcing the aggrieved person to watch pornography or other obscene material
    • “Verbal and emotional abuse" such as Accusation/aspersion on character or conduct. An insult for not bringing dowry, Insult for not having a male child. Hence statement 2 is Correct.
    • "Economic abuse" such as not providing money for maintaining a woman or her children. Not providing food, clothes, medicine. etc, Forcing woman out of the house. Hence statement 4 is Correct.
  • Non-sharing of household work, noncaring attitude for children, unhealthy habits of living. late coming etc. (of the male partner) is not directly covered under this act. Hence Statement 3 is Incorrect.

The correct answer is Electric Heater.

Key Points

• Electric Heater is a device that can convert Electric energy into heat energy.
• In an electron tube, an electric heating element shaped in the form of a wire or ribbon is used to supply heat to a cathode; the element provides heat when a current is passed through it.
• Electric heaters also are used for domestic central heating and for materials processing in the industry for example heat pumps; electric furnace.

Additional Information

• Energy is the ability to do work.
• The  Law of conservation of energy:
  • Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, only Energy can be converted from one form to another.
• These are some parts of the energy that convert one form to another:
  • Heat
  • Light
  • Motion
  • Electrical
  • Chemical
  • Gravitational
