Question Discussion & Solution

The correct answer is 2 ms^-2

• We know that according to Newton's 2^nd law,
  • Force = Mass × Acceleration
  • or \((\vec F = m \times \vec a)\)
• Here, F = 100 N and Mass = 50 Kg
• So, 100 = 50x a ⇒ a = 100/50 = 2.
• Hence, the acceleration will be 2 ms^-2.

• Force: A force is something that changes the state of rest or motion of a body.
  • It causes the body to start moving if it is at rest or stops if it is in motion or deflects from the initial path.
  • Force is a vector quantity having SI unit Newton (N) and dimension (MLT^-2).
• According to Newton’s Second law of motion
  • The rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the resulting force acting on a body
  • Mathematically it can be expressed as
• \(\vec F \propto \frac{{d\vec p}}{{dt}}\;or\;\vec F = m \times a\)

The correct answer is Concave lens.

Key Points

• To treat the eye disease known as myopia or nearsightedness we use the Concave Lens.
• A concave lens is a category of lens that deviates a straight light beam coming from the origin to a diminished, upright, virtual image.
• It can construct both real and virtual images.
• The convex lens is a lens that tends to meet at a point of rays of light that convey parallel to its principal axis which is comparatively thick across the middle and thin at the lower and upper edges.
• A convex lens is used in cameras, correction of Hyperopia, etc.
• Bifocal lenses hold two different prescriptions, an upper part to allow for distance vision and an additional power on the bottom part of the lens to help in close-up focus.
• A bifocal lens is used in people suffering from presbyopia, myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
• The result is eyesight lucidity at both distance and near with one pair of glasses.
• A Compound lens is simple lenses made on a general axis usually in close proximity and often cemented with each other.

UPDATE -  the number of wetlands in India has increased to 42.

Key Points

The Ramsar Convention:

• Ramsar Convention, 1971: on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat is an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands
• The Convention on Wetlands is an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.
• The Convention was adopted in the Iranian city of Ramsar in 1971 and came into force in 1975. Since then, almost 90% of UN member states, from all the world’s geographic regions, have acceded to become “Contracting Parties”.
• India is a party to the Ramsar Convention. India signed under it on 1st February 1982.
• Chilika Lake (Orissa) and Keoladeo National Park (Rajasthan) were recognized as the first Ramsar Sites of India
• Sundarbans is the largest Ramsar Site of India
• On 2nd February 2021, India’s first Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management has been set up in Chennai.
• There are 42 wetlands in India that have international importance and hence recognized as the Ramsar Sites in India. Ramsar Sites are wetlands that have international importance.

Three Pillars:

• Under the “three pillars” of the Convention, the Contracting Parties commit to:
  • work towards the wise use of all their wetlands;
  • designate suitable wetlands for the list of Wetlands of International Importance (the “Ramsar List”) and ensure their effective management;
  • cooperate internationally on transboundary wetlands, shared wetland systems, and shared species.

The Montreux record:

• The Montreux Record is a register of wetland sites on the List of Wetlands of International Importance where changes in ecological character have occurred, are occurring, or are likely to occur as a result of technological developments, pollution, or other human interference.
• It is maintained as part of the Ramsar List.

A storage unit is used to store information and instructions when they are not being used in memory.

Three kinds of storage devices are a flash drive, hard disks, and CD - ROM drives.

Data access time is the time taken by a computer, or a data storage device or medium, to respond to a user's request for data.

Typical access times for a CD-ROM drive, 200 milliseconds; hard drive, 15 milliseconds; Random Access Memory (RAM), 70 nanoseconds.

There is a trade-off among the three key characteristics of memory: namely, capacity, access time, and cost. A variety of technologies are used to implement memory systems, and across this spectrum of technologies, the following relationships hold:

• Faster access time, greater cost per bit
• Greater capacity, smaller cost per bit
• Greater capacity, slower access time
